Frequently Asked Questions

We've compiled a short list of the 'usual suspects' of questions we get asked about Minors On Tour, so hopefully the answer to your question is here too. If not, no problem, just drop us a line at AllieMOT25@gmail.com and we'll get back to you shortly.

Do I have to be a current member of the Morris Minor Owners Club?
At least one person in every booking must be a current full or family member of the MMOC, at the time of booking and while on the trip. This is to comply with the requirements of the clubs insurers. Your membership number will need to be supplied when you register for the trip and only one booking per membership number can be accepted.
How does Registration and booking work?
When you complete your Registration Form you will be given a unique number and asked to make your payment for the Registration Fee to the Morris Minor Owners Club bank account by Bank Transfer (this helps the MMOC minimise banking fees and helps us keep costs down). You will also get the Discount Code to allow you to book accommodation of your choice with the campsite. You will be asked to pay a reservation fee at the time of booking and the remainder a few weeks before MOT. If the campsite have not received confirmation from the MOT Organiser that your Registration Fee has been received, they will amend your booking to remove the discount and the full standard booking fee will be required.
When is booking open from and to?
You can register, and book accommodation, from now – the campsite booking form is open 24/7 but if you would prefer to book by phone we are assured that someone is available to take calls during (French) working hours. There are sufficient amounts of units available but the campsite have strongly encouraged us to book by the end of February.
Do I need to specify which unit I want on the site plan?
This is a larger site than we have used in other years trips and has accommodation units grouped in blocks according to unit type. It is likely then that there will be Minors scattered around most of the site but the complete site is compact enough that you will only be a few minutes walk away from the entrance and the area where MOT activities will take place, so you shouldn’t worry that you will be ‘away from the action’. If you want to have units next to each other, we suggest that you make your bookings by phone and ask for this at the time.
What does the Registration Fee cover?
The Registration Fee covers the printing and distribution costs for the Handbook, rally plaque, and other posted items, plus two courses at the restaurant for Le Meal, one of the MOT activities. It also makes a token contribution towards the welcome drinks that we put on on some nights.
What can I expect from MOT as a newcomer?
On each day on MOT, there is some level of group activity during the day and again in the evening. The most important thing to remember here is that NONE of those activities are compulsory and you can drop in and out entirely as you please. Everyone else is either a fellow newcomer or was a newcomer at some point, so they are all very willing to embrace new people to join in with whatever is going on at that particular moment. Just introduce yourself and you’ll be among friends in moments. On the other hand if you’re the shy sort, we’ll respect your privacy and let you join in just the bits you want.
Can I come in a non-Minor?
This one comes up every year – of course you can come in a different car if the need arises. Obviously our holiday is based around Minors, so we’d very much prefer it if you came on the trip in one, but if your planned rebuild didn’t get finished in time, or a last minute gearbox explosion threw you for a loop, then jump in whatever other wheels you have and get on with it, even if it’s some modern Euro-blob. We also have several members who bring alternative classics along each year – an Austin Rover Mini has been coming for a decade or so, in recent years a VW Beetle has appeared, and occasionally we’ve seen the odd Cortina, Triumph Dolomite, and even a Cavalier Convertible.
What's happened to Le Drive
The ever increasing tide of bureaucracy has unfortunately made a casualty of Le Drive, as rules about contacting each individual mayor who’s boudary the drive route might stray into, plus overarching rules about groups, all come into play. That’s a shame – a favourite memory of MOT is being a passenger in someone else’s Minor coming down a long hill to a huge roundabout with five or six exits on it and as we approached it a Minor came to the roundabout from four different directions, did a lap or two of the roundabout gesticulating at everyone else and then disappeared off in different directions! Actually, that’s probably one of the reasons why Le Drive doesn’t work any more… We cannot offer or recommend any route in order to avoid falling foul of these rules but there’s nothing to stop you arranging little convoys amongst yourselves – it’s just that MOT cannot organise that.
I'm interested in helping - how do I do that?
That’s fantastic – there are always little things that need doing and you can never have too much help to call on. Just drop Allie a line on alliemot25@gmail.com and she’ll have a chat about what she’s looking for.
I have an item to donate to the raffle/auction
Both the raffle and the auction rely on donations from MOT’ers and we’re very grateful to the long list of people who always brings something along for either or both events. Please remember that not only do you have to get it to France, but the person who wins it also needs to get it home – anything large or heavy usually does better to just have photos on site and to be sent on once everyone is back in England! You can talk to Allie before we go on alliemot25@gmail.com or just give it to her when you arrive on site.
What if I have a problem while we're away?
Mechanical issues, otherwise known as ‘failures to proceed’, are relatively easy no matter how complex they might appear to you. Just raise your bonnet and you’ll have several interested and usually capable heads under it in a few moments. You can always contact the organisers via the phone numbers in your Handbook. If the problem isn’t with the car, just ask one of the organisers for a moment aside and they’ll do their best to help. Just remember that they are on holiday too but there won’t be many issues that a seasoned MOT’er can’t help with.
How do we contact the campsite?
You can contact the campsite reception on +33 2 47 65 43 35 from 9am to 12pm and from 2pm to 5pm (French time), and by email, which is often easier: contact@fierbois.com
